Less IT effort, sharper instincts: How TSG 1899 Hoffenheim uses revel8 to build a more alert team

About TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
The TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Spielbetriebs GmbH organises and is responsible for the professional football operations of TSG Hoffenheim. The company is of interest to fans, partners, sponsors and everyone interested in football in the region and beyond.
Why TSG 1899 Hoffenheim chose revel8
Before working with revel8, the team at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim found it difficult to run phishing awareness training in a way that felt realistic and stayed efficient. Identical campaigns had to be sent to the entire workforce at the same time, which weakened the element of surprise, and each campaign needed manual planning and execution that easily slipped down the priority list during busy periods.
The company chose revel8 because the platform made its phishing awareness more complete and easier to manage, with the playlist approach and automation taking much of the manual effort out of the process. What stood out in particular was that revel8 could include not only emails but also SMS and phone calls in the simulations, allowing employees to be trained realistically across different communication channels.
Details on partnership
Only three months into the partnership, the company is already running revel8 across a team of around 350 employees. The implementation and onboarding process proved to be very straightforward, with reliable support throughout and documentation that was clear and easy to put into practice. This allowed the IT team to familiarise themselves with the platform quickly and work productively from day one. The team is especially drawn to the scope of the solution and its many possible applications, with the voice cloning approach standing out as a particular highlight.

Initial success
After rolling out revel8, the company noticed fewer security incidents across the organisation, based on 1,100 simulations in just three months. Since adopting revel8, the company has seen a clear drop in the workload carried by its IT team, which is a direct result of employees becoming more security-aware. In the first month of rollout, 67% of employees completed their training. The completion rate then climbed a further 13 percentage points to peak at 80% the month after, showing that employees weren't just receiving the training, but actively engaging with it from the very start. This change shows in daily behaviour: employees now examine suspicious emails far more carefully, and with a reporting rate already at 16%, they are quicker to flag anything that raises concern rather than let it pass.

Looking forward
Looking ahead, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim plans to keep working with revel8 to gradually make use of all attack types available through revel8. The goal is to stay one step ahead of evolving threats, not respond after the damage is done.
